TURNING 30 on a Boat in Italy

I skip the essay about the 30 lessons I've learned in 30 YEARS. This year has already given us enough food for thought.

But 2020 only made it even more clear, the most important lesson to learn and practice is GRADITUDE. In times full of setbacks, far away from my actual plans and goals for this year, the feeling of gratitude became such powerful and healing state of mind for me. Yes 2020 has taken something from all of us, but we still have so much to be grateful for.
Another thing to keep in mind, which proves to be a true fact again and again: EVERYTHING WILL BE ALRIGHT. Nothing stays the same for long (not even pain). Trust me. Just think about it, you got through 100% of your worst days, no matter how hard the obstacle seemed. You will find a way.

Even if you use your last savings to drag you from a very self-destructive place and rescue the last remnants of your mental health with an Italy vacation and now finance your rent with selling your possessions. The frustrating reality of 2020.
So please don’t let photos on Social Media (yes these ones too) mislead you. Everyone is struggling during these Covid times and that’s ok (I know a lot of you are feeling bad because they have to move back to their parents. You don’t have to). We’re all adjusting. I’m self-employed with no one wanting (yikes!)/being able to pay for my work for months now. It hurts. But it will pass. I have my family, I’m healthy and for everything else I will find a way.

Rent a BOAT at Lago di Como.

A thing that I thought was exclusively the privilege of George Clooney. Though I guess I do him wrong, he owns boats. However, after a short research we had to realize that even for the ordinary mortals among us it’s financially possible. On special occasions at least. It’s still not very inexpensive. But to turn 30 I just classify as such an occassion.

We have rented from AC Boat in Menaggio and can highly recommend it. Problem-free online booking and very responsible handling of the Covid situation on site. You get a short 5 minute introduction on how to handle a boat and you’re ready to go.

It’s super easy and probably one of the most fun things we ever did. The unforgettable panoramic view of the beauty of Lago di Como was worth every cent of this 3-hour boat trip and makes this birthday a day I will never forget. And yes, the Prosecco is a booking option as well 😉
