Here’s the deal. I don’t hike. I don’t even like to go on walks. Apart from my daily workouts, I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a home body. I’d even go so far as to claim that I’m a couch potato. There we go, I said it.
I’ve found a way to stay fit though, which is why it works totally fine for me. So quarantine and self-isolation wasn’t a big adjustment for me, I’m all right with that.
What I didn’t handle so well was the fact that I was suddenly confronted with countless emotions that arrived in a nice and compact ’nervous breakdown‘-bundle, delivered right to my doorstep. Overnight Express delivery. Signature not required. A lot of you probably received the same package, right?
Which brings me to the part where I went completely stir-crazy. I just wanted to get out of here. But we’re living right in the center of a big city. And it felt that grey sidewalks, endless rows of houses and semi fresh air just wouldn’t do the job.
So we did the unthinkable and downloaded your dad’s (mine included) favorite app to plan hiking and bike routes (*Boomer*). But we just don’t half-ass anything in this household.
And now get ready for the part you’ve all been waiting for (my life is exciting). We went hiking and what should I say, it cleared my head like nothing else before. Who would have thought that two hours of walking up and down mountains in the forest would bring me complete calmness. So much that it’s now a weekly ritual. So much and I can’t believe I’m writing this now, but so much that we both bought hiking shoes (*BOOMER!!!*).
